Find out from the Valuation Roll of 1959-60

Take a look at the Valuation roll that's attached at the foot of this page, and re-kindle some memories of Addiewell as it was in 1959.  The Valuation Roll, kindly supplied by Midlothian Local Studies Library at 2 Clerk Street, Loanhead, lists all the houses in part of the village, together with the tenant or owner of each property.
See if you can find your own name - or your father's name  - or your neighbours.
More to follow  - we hope.

Does anybody know who this fine looking gentleman with the bike is? It's good to see Davie Bertams shop again, many a penny caramel I had out of there

And many a fish supper too Tommy, it is nice to see Hughie Tierney's shop too, they were busy little places in their heyday.

That's me, Dave Toynbee at the bottom of Harry Knox' backyard in Addie Brownhill Probably 1954 when I got a new Rudge bike. With 4-speeds. High tech!
