A young man named Walter Scott, 21 years, a railway clerk, who lived with his parents at Addiewell, disappeared on Wednesday last, and has not been heard of since.

Scott is 5 feet 6 inches in height, and is dressed in a dark tweed suit.  He was last seen on the Caledonian Railway.  Search parties have been all over the district, and ponds have been dragged without result.

On Tuesday the body of young man, Walter Scott, Meadowhead, Addiewell, was recovered from a pond at the Addiewell Oilworks, where it had lain, it is believed, since 24th January last.  Scott, who was a railway clerk, went amissing from his home on the date mentioned, and his body was found only a few yards from the spot where was last seen alive.

Dragging operations would have been begun earlier but for the fact that the pond was covered with ice.
